July 3, 2011:  Roger Taylor Joins the Foo Fighters Onstage at Milton Keynes
The Foo Fighters were joined onstage at Milton Keynes (7/2/11) by a succession of rock legends, including Queen's drummer Roger Taylor, Alice Cooper and Husker Du singer Bob Mould.  Roger Taylor was the first to join the Foo Fighters to play, taking over the drumkit from Taylor Hawkins, who sang lead on the song "Cold Day in the Sun."  Taylor Hawkins introduced Roger by saying, "One of the reasons I started playing music is this man and his wonderful f*^*ing band!" June 21, 2011:  Freddie Mercury Places 2nd in NME Greatest Singer of All Time Poll


Queen's Freddie Mercury has placed 2nd in NME's Greatest Singers of All Time Poll.  Michael Jackson took 1st place with an average score of 9.02 out of 10, while Mercury's score was an 8.39 out of 10.

The poll which took place on NME.COM (New Music Express) and saw 10 million votes being cast, four-thousand Facebook comments and initially saw Mercury holding the top spot until Jackson took over the number one post. Elvis Presley finished in third place with an average of 7.17 out of 10 and Axl Rose held the fourth place spot with a score of  6.47 out of 10.

Jan. 8, 2010:  This came in from author David Evans - our first "C-lebrity" piece!
 
David Evans, author of "This is the Real Life" and co-author (with Peter Freestone) of "Freddie Mercury-The Afterlife" sent in the transcript of a lecture which he gave aboard a small cruise ship as they left Zanzibar years ago. He also has published two interesting memoirs which unsurprisingly feature many references to his great friend, Freddie quite a lot!
